A guide to artists performing at SXSW that have been covered on Groovemine.
Given that SXSW is, perhaps, the largest music festival in the U.S. it's no wonder that there is significant overlap with the number of artists that Groovemine has covered over the short period of time that we've been online. In the form of an album review, concert review, or a Groovemine AudioFile, we are chock full of information and commentary on a cross-section of artists, much of which is accompanied by sample MP3s for you to stream/download and video to watch.
After of hours of dizzying research, we've identified the overlap and have pulled together where & when you can find these artists around town whether they're appearing at an official SXSW showcase or otherwise. We did find that a handful of the artists identified below claim to be performing several other dates during the festival, according to their myspace page and/or their websites. In some of those cases, we were unable to find the event info. Schedules and line-ups are, no doubt, still being added to and tweaked.
In alphabetical order of the artists name, we present this information below along with links to Groovemine's corresponding content. You can find the comprehensive line-up organized by day and venue on the official SXSW website which can be overwhelming and a bit difficult to navigate.
NOTE: If you can't afford a badge or wristband to enter the official showcases—or, if the festival sells out—make sure to check our picks for the best FREE parties happening around Austin during the Festival. Shit! They sound like they're going to be solid events, so check them out, anyway! Despite the gratis entry, there's certainly no compromise in the talent line-ups at these parties. Read the list here.

Sat, Mar 20 • 1:15A • Fucked Up And Friends @ Red 7 Patio (611 E 7th St)
For some reason, I wouldn't consider a dilapidated latrine as an improper venue for a band like Fucked Up. They play a cluttered and abrasive blend of punk rock in which their three guitarists can all be going off on their own... [continue reading]
Japandroids
Sat, Mar 20 • 1:00A • Polyvinyl Showcase @ Galaxy Room (508 E 6th St)
JPNDRDS is an unusual setup. Two men, a guitar, a drumset and both of them providing vocals. Only nowhere in here does it sound limited by that fact. In fact it sounds like some of the more rounded garage rock that's... [continue reading]

Fri, Mar 19 • 12:00A • Mohawk Patio (912 Red River St)
We've been hearing songs from this Miike Snow all summer long of 2009. "Who is this new guy?," we wondered silently to ourselves several times as we quickly absorbed and hummed the melodies. The songs are catchy... [continue reading]

Alan Palomo is our first truly postmodern pop star, the sub rosa idoru whose peripatetic sojourn to stardom—a couple of tracks here, an EP there, evasiveness everywhere—is far more indebted to Pynchon’s more aggressively... [continue reading]
Ocote Soul Sounds
Thu, Mar 18 • 12:00A • @ Scoot Inn (1308 E 4th St)
Was this performed at a late night, downtown club? Improvised jam in the backyard on a Friday afternoon? Or maybe it's the soundtrack to a Latin-fused Guy Ritchie film? Coconut Rock may be all of the above, and Ocote Soul... [continue reading]
Phantogram

Say Hi
Fri, Mar 19 • 7:45P • @ Galaxy Room (508 E 6th St)
Eric Elbogen is becoming a bit of a fixture and prestige point in the Seattle indie scene: six full length albums out in almost the same number of years, continued brilliance even at the fast rate of creation. Like so many artists, he... [continue reading]
School of Seven Bells

Fri, Mar 19 • 9:00P • Arts & Crafts/The Highline Ballroom Party @ The Parish (214B E 6th St)
Timber Timbre's self-titled album is eerily beautiful—a frighteningly dark take on American folk and blues. The tracks tend to start rather simply, perhaps with just a bass and electric organ. Yet, there is an innate organic power... [continue reading]
Toro Y Moi
Thu, Mar 18 • 1:00A • Carpark/Paw Tracks Party @ Wave (408 E 6th St)
It's not often that a record presents itself that is at once as self-indulgent and broadly enjoyable as Causers of This by South Carolina electro-artist Toro Y Moi, aka Chaz Bundick. It's obvious he's having fun with the studio... [continue reading]

Fri, Mar 19 • 1:00A The Windish Agency Showcase @ Emo's Main Room (603 Red River St)
In 2008, a British team of producers joined forces with a vibrant Malawian singer to create a mixtape. The foreign yet soulful vocals mixed nicely with the bright remixes and original tracks. And that’s the end of the story. Or, that... [continue reading]
