Hyperpotamus’ Largo Bailon, the album of pure voice, is something we can all call primitive. The single man behind the album is a multi-instrumental a cappella singer. For using the lightest instrument one can carry, the voice, the man can fill some serious space. With the aid of four microphones and a single loop pedal, Hyperpotamus is able to layer multiple sounds simultaneously. Each song is composed of beat-boxing, yodeling, and harmonizing. With such a diverse array of melodies, it is amazing to hear him hit keys with such accuracy. The album is a cultural carousel, with roots from his home in Spain to tribal sounds of Africa. Hyperpotamus recently performed at this year’s SXSW in Austin, Texas, shocking those who caught his positive vibes and supple movements.
